Monthly Messages

Hello everyone! I've been working hard on a new idea for the blog! I've decided to come up with "Monthly Messages" or themes for each month of the year. Each month I will preview certain issues related to animal rights that need our attention. Raising awareness in a positive and productive way is a strong goal of Cruelty Free Living and the best way to make a difference is go step-by-step, month-by-month. I would love everyone's thoughts on this model year!:

January - Change

Since January is the most popular month for change, we will focus on new ways that people can make a difference in their habits and behaviors to help animals and others! New recipe ideas, starter kits, and helpful tips will be featured.

February - Animal Experimentation

This month will focus on what animal experimentation is and why it's not needed in the world. We will look at different brands that are completely cruelty free and brands that may say they are-but actually use deception. Different cruelty free brands, organizations that work towards a cruelty free world, and rescued lab animals will be featured.

March - Arctic Life

Global warming, oil wars, seal killings, and animals close to extinction in the Arctic will be discussed and reviewed. March can be the month for transforming part of our world that usually goes overlooked. Petitions, helpful tips, and powerful animals will be featured.

April - Purchasing Pets

April is a popular month for people to buy bunnies for Easter, puppies from puppy mills, and other pets from other kinds of breeders. We will feature awesome adoption fairs and organizations, reasons of why you should adopt, and how we can all help shut down places to purchase pets.

May - Poaching and Hunting

Elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, tigers, lions, and many other animals are being hunted for their skins, tusks, horns, and other bodily items. May will target ways in which we can boycott certain companies that continue to ship animal parts and how we can help preserve wild life. Non-profit organizations like Save the Elephants and small companies like Ivory Ella will be featured.

June - Exotic Trades and the Dog/Cat Meat Industry

At the end of June, a dog meat and cat meat "festival" is help every year in China and other Asian countries. June will be the month to create awareness for not only the horrific dog and cat meat industries, but also for the exoctic and sometimes illegal meat trades that go on, such as buffalo, bison, kangaroo, crocodile, and more. Petitions, organizations, and new Summer vegan recipes will be featured.

July - Animal Entertainment (Land)

Zoos, circuses, and other forms of animal exploitation through entertainment will be the theme for July. Many families love going to the zoo or the circus since all of the kids are out for the Summer and they want to do a "fun" family event. Sanctuaries of all kinds will be featured.

August - Animal Entertainment (Ocean)

Marine life is just as used and abused as land creatures. Sea World, Marine World, and other ocean "worlds" will be discussed and reviewed. Again, people love going to these places especially during the hot August nights. Many great small companies like Wilddtail, informative documentaries like Blackfish, and marine life sanctuaries will be featured for August.

September - Forced Fighting

Any and all forms of animal fighting-dog, cock, bull, kangaroo, orangutan, and others will be the topics for September. This month we can focus on all of the great changes we can make for these animals! Helpful tips, rescues, and petitions will be featured.

October - Shed Stolen Skins

October (the first theme that will be previewed!) is all about going animal skin-free. Leather, wool, silk, fur, even goose down will be kicked to the curb and replaced with beautiful synthetics. Amazing companies like Pixie Mood, Vaute, and many others will be featured.

November - Farming Industries

It's that time of the year for warm blankets, almond milk lattes, and a dead bird on your Thanksgiving plate? November is the month to talk about not just turkeys, but about cows, pigs, chickens, rabbits, geese, ducks, horses, and fish. This month is a great time to sponsor a farm animal from great sanctuaries like Farm Santuary and Animal Place.

December - Animal Abuse

December will wrap up the year with a discussion about animal abuse and high-kill shelters across the US. December is a popular month (like April) to purchase puppies and kittens for holidays. Adoption, vegan food, and cruelty free holiday habits will be featured.

This is all just a model-what do you guys think?? Have a beautiful week and I'll be posting my adventures next weekend after the World Veg Fest (in San Francisco, October 3rd and 4th). :)
